THE IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONAL HARMONY

There are many levels to self care and many ways to achieve it. Emotional self-care involves taking care of your emotions..the core of who you are and what you may be feeling. Its the use of healthy coping strategies and self-introspection. Tapping into your inner most feelings helps you better understand why you may respond the way you do to situations and circumstances. It helps you be less reactionary to difficulties and challenges and maintain your balance.

Tips to achieving Emotional Harmony

1. Journaling - write out what ails you. Give a voice to those challenges that are causing you to feel emotionally displaced. Be sure to include successes!

2. Take a moment to breathe - meditation and reflection for a few minutes a day to clear your mind works wonders! 2-3 minutes of silent reflection helps clarify and bring focus.

3. Develop rituals that bring balance - a warm bath, a hot cup of tea and perhaps a few chapters of a good book before bed helps to bring about peace and relieves stress. Use room/linen spray on pillows and sheets (lavender is amazing for promoting relaxation. Play mediation music or white noise to create a soothings space.

4. Schedule a massage and relax - no explanation needed for this one :)

5. Get counseling - as much as we love our friends, they are no substitute for a trained counselor. Do a deep dive into those areas that are problematic with someone who is trained to bring the awareness to the surface that is needed.

Whatever you decide to do, give yourself permission to fully enjoy and connect with the effort.

Candles 101 - Burning Your Candle

1. Trim your wick at least 1/4 inch above the wax. Trim before every light.

2. Let the wax melt across the top. This is called a 'melt pool" and you want it to touch each side of the container. This can take 3-4 hours

3. Wax has "memory". If you do not allow a full burn, you run the risk of creating a tunnel in your candle because the wax will only burn as far as the last time.

4. If possible, snuff the flame instead of blowing.
